Dingboche to Lobuche: 8.4km, 4 hours, 720 floors
Well done! You have completed Stage 6 of Zoom to EBC! Nothing stands in your way now as you zoom in on the final 3 stages. A mere 4 hours trek lies between Dingboche and Lobuche, but don't be overconfident as the trek involves an elevation gain of 500m, from 4400m to 4900m. This is a time to encourage each other after that awesome acclimatisation climb in Stage 6.
You will reach the Thukla Pass Memorial site after 2 hours of trekking. This will be a sobering moment as you witness cairns, prayer flags and memorial monuments honouring climbers and sherpas who have died attempting to climb Everest. You will see the memorial dedicated to Scott Fischer, the famous climber who perished in the 1996 Mount Everest disaster.
Soon Lobuche appears and you look forward to watching the movie Everest starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Scott Fischer. But you give up as Internet connectivity is wonky. There will be enough time later to watch Jake Gyllenhaal mountain movies and see him climb in different positions.
One night in Lobuche and then it's onwards to the last town on the EBC trek - Gorak Shep!
